A GROUP of legal experts from Worcester braved wintry conditions to clear an overgrown section of canal.

The team of about 20 people came together from npower's Worcester HQ, at the Shire Business Park, and parent company Innogy.

The day was organised as a team-building exercise, combining both light and fairly strenuous work removing tree stumps, thinning hedges, and repairing leaks in the towpath.

"We devised the task with Community Service Volunteers to enable the overall team to develop their skills of co-operation, communication and working together," said Carol Hart, npower's Community Volunteers Officer.

"Despite the dreadful weather conditions, the teams worked really well together and were delighted with the end result."

The exercise took place last month, at a stretch of canal by Dauntsey Lock, near Chippenham.

The day was part of a scheme run by the Wiltshire and Berkshire Canal Trust to return fishing, boating, cycling and canoeing to the area within 15 years.
