CATHERINE Fall from Stockport took the U14 girls title in the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Christmas U14 Invitation Indoor Tennis tournament held at MACIT, Manor Park.
She defeated Kim Roberts from North Wales in the final but not before Kim had a shock win against top seed Herefordshire & Worcestershire player, Kathryn Fisher in the first round.
Kim's sister Leah lost to Catherine Fall 6/4, 6/2 in the semi-final and Jade Hung from Avon fell to Kim Roberts 6/1, 6/1.
A full 16 player draw in the boys event saw players from Berkshire, Glos, Oxon, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Wiltshire as well as eight players from Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Greg Boxer (Bromsgrove) and Rob Lowe (Evesham) both reached the semi-final stage and Tom Shotton (Ross on Wye) went one better and lost in the final to George Hudson from Warwickshire. Manor Park players Ben Marks and Richard Tuck both had close matches but lost in the first round.
