BUTCHERS and pie-makers from across Herefordshire and Worcestershire will be among those battling it out at the Four Counties British Meat Awards for Excellence in Meat Products.

Previously limited to the Three Counties, meat retailers from Shropshire will take part for the first time this year at Worcester Rugby Club on Wednesday, January 22.

Local producers who have fared well in previous years with their sausages, pies, home-cured bacon and ready meals include Malvern County Meals (of who Teme Vale Products is a subsidiary), RA Phipps from Hanley Swan and Tim Newman from Colwall.

The activities are due to begin at 2pm, with final presentations to be made at 6.30pm.
