A DOCTOR's surgery in Herefordshire has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.
Kingstone Surgery, in Kingstone, near Hereford, is one of only three village amenities across the country to be nominated for the Special Civic Trust Vital Villages Award, 2003.
The award, sponsored by the Countryside Agency, recognises services that contribute most to improving the local community.
The other finalists are Chipping Norton Leisure Centre, Oxfordshire, and Woolfardisworthy Village Hall, Bideford, Devon.
"These projects have demonstrated that quality design can be incorporated in an important local resource at a relatively small scale," said awards manager Eleanor Murkett.
"At this level, these projects are providing a direct benefit for the people in the community."
The winner will be announced at the Civic Trust Awards ceremony at the Imperial War Museum North, Salford, on Thursday, April 3.
