THERE should be hope for peace when heads of Catholic and Anglican churches, many non-conformists, members of other world religions and atheists all agree on the futility of war with Iraq.
The horror of maiming and blowing up people proclaims its immorality.
Resorting to self-satisfied, organised murder makes the case for Saddam Hussein, not us. Unrelenting diplomacy should reveal the disgust felt for his regime.
Inspectors must go in for as long as it takes for him to comply, if necessary, with the threat, not of war on Iraq, but of his personal indictment.
Iraq will not be the end of this matter. Terrorists will multiply, and large and small countries will want weapons for self-defence. Mankind's eventual self-destruction is on the cards.
