THE finance director of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the Alexandra Hospital, has defended his position over the authority's £6 million debt.
Paul Taylor was speaking at a meeting of Redditch and Bromsgrove Community Health Council last Wednesday.
Coming under fierce criticism from CHC members, Mr Taylor said the issue of the debt was a complex one.
But angry CHC member June Griffiths said "heads should roll" on the trust board because of the debt.
Mr Taylor said he bore responsibility but said it was important not to 'over-simplify' the situation.
External auditors have also told the trust that its waiting list management needed to be tightened up, most likely with a centralised department as opposed to consultants and secretaries making appointments individually.
