THE deadline is looming for residents in the Bromsgrove district - including Alvechurch, Beoley, Rowney Green, Wythall and Tardebigge - to make sure their names are on the Register of Electors so they can vote in the district council elections on May 1.

Bromsgrove Council's head of administration Vince Harrison said the Register of Electors could still be amended until the deadline on Tuesday, for example to include somebody who has been accidentally missed off.

But he added any proposed amendments received after the deadline would not be in effect when the election took place.

Anyone who has recently moved house should contact Bromsgrove Council to make sure they can vote from their new address but they will still be able to vote from their previous address provided they are on the register there.

Postal votes are available to those who cannot get to their polling station, for example due to illness or holidays.

Applications for new postal votes must be made by April 23 and by April 11 to amend details of existing postal votes.
