FORGE Mill Museum is set to be turned into a state-of-the-art venue with interactive hi-tech displays.

The move will form part of a £500,000 revamp by Redditch Council in an attempt to attract more than 50,000 visitors a year.

Only last year, proposals to close the Riverside museum were considered as part of a council cost-cutting exercise but later ditched.

A working party of councillors has since been set up to review the museum and last week presented its findings.

Mr Cartwright said the museum was non-profit making and there was a need to increase its income substantially.
