DEAR EDITOR - There are plans to build a housing scheme for mental health patients, on the site of Droitwich Boxing Club, opposite the Railway Public House.

Some residents have quite sensibly asked for clear confirmation that the project will not house people who are a threat to the community.

Not violent disorders, habitual arsonists, paedophiles or other severe cases.

Officials have passed the buck to avoid giving an answer.

No assurances are forthcoming about what is to be foisted on our Spa.

Newspapers tell us the scheme is already approved and under way, yet there are no plans on file at Wychavon for people to inspect, question or object to.

Why will no one promise simple safeguards? Have decisions already been made behind closed doors? What is really going on?

James Witham,

Burrish Street, Droitwich Spa
