Bromsgrove Ladies 1 Tenbury Ladies 1-
TENBURY Ladies pulled off a thrilling draw against promotion contenders Bromsgrove.
It was an awesome performance from Tenbury, which saw them produce what they believe will be the goal of the season.
The game had started at a ferocious pace with end-to-end hockey and both sides pushing for the opening goal.
Jess Selfe and Jo Crox-ton were strong in the heart of Tenbury's defence with keeper Kailee Hurdiss in such stunning form, Broms-grove found it hard to penetrate the visitor's defence.
Captain Rachel Croxton was dominant in midfield and made several snaking runs through Bromsgrove's midfield but their defence were equally strong and denied Tenbury any opportunity of an attack at goal.
However, Bromsgrove were the first to break the deadlock scoring from a penalty corner. Tenbury restarted the game and immediately counter-attacked through Rachel Croxton.
In a penetrating run down the left flank she eased her way past Bromsgrove's midfield before pushing the ball into the path of Nikki Edwards. Nikki's pin point cross found Becki Toone unmarked and she finished the move off with a classy push high into the back of the net.
It was a great reply, which took just 30 seconds to create.
In the second half Bromsgrove applied the greater pressure and keeper Kailee Hurdiss pulled off several amazing saves to prevent them from scoring a second.
Tenbury earned a couple of corners late in the half but were unable to convert any of them. The last quarter of the game was fraught as Broms-grove had a string of penalty corners, but Tenbury's defence kept its cool and managed to clear the ball to safety.
It was a magnificent display by Tenbury which saw keeper Kailee Hur-diss the 'player of the match' for her awesome display in goal.
Next week Tenbury play Worcester at Bridge Street, Leominster at 12 Noon.
