A THIRD fishery could be created in the Alvechurch area.
British Waterways hopes to build the 160-peg commercial fishery on land next to the canal in Lea End Lane, Hopwood.
The plans involve creating four lakes and a drive providing access to three car parks close to the lakes with a total of 104 spaces, as well as toilets and an office area.
They also include removing overhead electricity cables and putting them underground and using excavated clay to line the lakes, which would avoid the need for a large number of vehicles to import materials.
It is proposed the fishery will be open from 7.30am to dusk.
Alvechurch Parish Council clerk Gill Lungley said while parish councillors felt recreational development would preserve the openness of the green belt they had some concerns.
It is recommended the plans be delegated to Bromsgrove Council's director of planning services on Monday.
