SOME of the leading figures of British and world football were due to be in the Faithful City today attending a memorial service for former Football Association chairman, Sir Bert Millichip.
Former England manager Sir Bobby Robson, now manager of Newcastle United, is one of the dignitaries due to lead the tributes at this afternoon's service in Worcester Cathedral.
Sir Bobby is expected to be joined by UEFA chief Gerald Aigner and FA chairman Geoff Thompson to pay their respects.
The service has been organised by the Cathedral, family, the Football Association and West Bromwich Albion, the club Sir Bert Millichip was chairman of before taking over at the FA in 1981.
He died in December, aged 88.
Albion's managing director, and former player, Brendon Batson, said the service is likely to be a poignant occasion.
"This is an opportunity for those who were unable to attend the funeral to be present to pay their respects," he said.
