Badsey Ladies 2, Cresconians 0
SATURDAY'S was an important match for Badsey against their closest league rivals.
Cresconians tested the Badsey defence with some early pressure but the home team stood firm with Fiona McNeish making several crucial saves.
Badsey then began to put their game together and cause problems for their opponents and they were unlucky not to score on several occasions.
The breakthrough came from a short corner by Wendy Hardy. The ball came out to Lynn Townson who slipped the ball through to Jane Rickey and her shot was deflected into the goal by a defender.
This inspired the home team and they kept up the pressure in search of a second goal.
In the second half, Cresconians again started strongly, but again the Badsey defence was equal to the task with Louise King, Louise Stephenson and Hardy protecting the goal well.
The second goal finally arrived and was the result of a good move down the left which ended when a neat pass to Sharon Fish saw her finish well.
Karen Moore was named player of the match on a day when the whole team contributed to a fine win that kept the winners at the top with four games to play.
Badsey entertain Upton at Redditch RUFC on Saturday, pushback 10.30am.
