TWO defensive lynchpins from Tuesday's vital success have committed themselves to a crucial part of Kidderminster Harriers' Division Three run-in.

Keeper Fraser Digby and defender Dion Scott have agreed short-term deals to keep them at Aggborough for another month.

They helped Harriers back up to eighth in the table with a 1-0 win over Southend to bounce back from Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Scunthorpe.

Ian Britton's side are just one point off top-three side Bournemouth and two away from 11th-placed York in an intriguing promotion race.

Britton was relieved to secure Digby and Scott, stating: "Both players have done well since they have been here.

"We are not in a position to offer permanent deals at the moment but I'm delighted we can keep them here for a little longer."

But the Harriers boss, who last week snapped up young Nottingham Forest defender Wes Morgan on a one-month loan, must wait for a potential new signing who has agreed to move to Harriers.

The mystery target is still required by his club due to injury problems so Britton's plans were still on hold ahead of Saturday's league trip to Rochdale.

However, he has released striker Andy Corbett who has scored 21 goals so far for Solihull in the Dr Martens Western Division during a season-long loan.

Corbett, out of contract in the summer, only made eight Football League appearances and did not score for the first team.

Skipper Sean Flynn admitted the remaining games may not be pretty after Harriers' scrappy midweek win, secured by their 50th league goal of the season.

The match was watched by Harriers' second worst Football League attendance of 2,006, just higher than the 2,002 against York in October 2001.

Flynn admitted: "It wasn't the performance that counted but the hard work and the 100 per cent the lads put in.

"We can forget the pretty stuff at times and if it means doing that for 13 games then so be it.

"You could see the anxiety and tension plus the lack of belief after two defeats but we still got the result we needed.

"Automatic promotion is still a possibility. Saturday at Rochdale will be difficult but there is not going to be an easy game between now and the end of the season.

"It's an away game though and we tend to play better on our travels because the pressure is off us."
