PAMPERING sessions by trainees at Kidderminster College are available to everyone - from businessmen in need of a massage to busy mothers looking for a new hair-do.

Students of hair, beauty, and holistic therapy are providing top-to-toe services at rock bottom prices while they are training for their NVQ.

Sessions are tailored to the individual's needs, whether it is a simple shampoo and blow dry, deluxe manicure, make-up or an Indian head massage.

And after experiencing the full treatment in the capable hands of the friendly staff and students clients are left feeling relaxed, calm, and ready to face the world afresh. holistic therapies lecturer Bonnie White with Mars Chua.

Pupils, who are trained by professionals, work at the college's salons which are open to the public. Section manager Sheelah Salsby said: "We virtually have everything that's available in a beauty and hairdressing establishment, but we still want to develop the choices we offer.

"Top-to-toe treatments are very fashionable with both men and women from people as young as 16 and as old as 90."

She added: "Our clients like to see the students progress and become more confident - it's like seeing them grow up in a way.

"Health and beauty have become very up-market now and there are a lot of people wanting to get into the industry."

Mrs Salsby said many pupils would go on to work in prestigious town salons or even set up their own businesses.

Some have stayed on to teach.

Former student Bonnie White is now a holistics therapy lecturer at the Hoo Road college.

She specialises in Indian head massage, which involves a relaxing rub of the upper back, shoulders, neck, head and face.

It helps relieve the stress and tension people carry in their upper body.

The massage is performed while the client remains clothed which means it is effective for shorter sessions such as a lunch break.

An initial consultation takes place prior to any treatment, and each client is advised of its possible side effects.

Mrs White said: "Indian head massages are quite popular with men. We mainly get clients who are working and want to relieve the stress of everyday life."
