MAY I correct the letter by Mrs T Green about the access to the riverside via Coopers Lane in Stourport.
Coopers Lane was not named until 1992. In fact it is my late father's name.
There was NO public access to the riverside until after the toilets were built in 1947. This access from Bridge Street was to my property only with pedestrian access to the piece of land used to build the toilets.
Before this there were three points of access to the riverside; "Crown" car park, the spiral stairs of the bridge and down Moorhall Lane.
The land where the children's play area and the padding pool are now was all "bog" until it was filled in and developed after the Second World War
I have personally seen all this happen as my family have lived in Coopers Lane since 1937.
