THE race for the Division Two title is still extremely tight but would appear to lie between Bengeworth Sapp-hires and Wyre Piddle Netting.

The Sapphires all but ended Littleton Supermarine's hopes after a 7-3 triumph. The match was closer than the scoreline suggests as five of the ten games went the distance with the Sapphires coming out on top in four of them.

Paul Geary was unbeaten on the night but the turning point of the match came when Bill Roberts defeated Ken Sefton 11-9, 10-12, 4-11, 11-5, 11-9.

The Sapphires had previously beaten Littleton Borg 7-3 despite Luke Moffat winning three singles for the Borg.

Littleton Loopers overcame Wyre Coils 6-4 and Wyre Barbedwyre 8-2 and now occupy second spot having played a game more than third-placed Wyre Netting.

Andrew Taylor and Martin Brown both won three singles each against the Coils but Taylor suffered a rare defeat, 8-11, 11-3, 7-11, 11-13, at the hands of Mike Moore when the Barbedwyre visited Littleton.

Sandra Wheeler beat Graham Gooderham and Wendy Moul-ton for Bengeworth 49ers when they entertained the Netting but Malcolm Daley was unbeaten for the visitors in a 7-3 win.

Three matches finished all-square at 5-5. Ray Griffiths won three for Wyre Coils as they held Bengeworth 49ers. Luke Moffat also won three for Littleton Borg as they avoided defeat for only the second time this season against Bengeworth Lions.

Wyre Barbedwyre and Ben-geworth Green finished level in a match with some strange results. Joan Parfitt and Keith Diver both beat Dan Wood who in turn defeated Don Bailey.

Dave Witts and Peggy Mytton both beat Diver but it still needed Wood and Witts to beat Bailey and Parfitt in the doubles to level the match.
