Prudden Road Surfacing Tennis League
THE league's annual general meeting prompted a full attendance by 27 members from all 16 clubs at the Royal British Legion Club in Bidford.
The meeting heard of competitive battles in this Summer League, which covers the South Warwickshire and neighbouring areas, not only in all three divisions in 2002 but once again in an exciting end of season Floodlit Tournament.
Studley A were acclaimed League and Cup double champions with the Floodlit Shield title added to their Division One crown.
Chipping Campden A took the Division Two title, while Little-ton B were the third division winners.
In the Floodlit Shield Plate competition, Bidford A were the victors.
The league's committee was thanked for all their hard work and the officials were all unanimously re-elected except for Phil Wells who was replaced as Division One organiser by Corin Bishop.
Paul Haffner (Bidford) was elected as organiser for a newly established Division Four.
The meeting was addressed by Warwickshire LTA secretary Tony Eskew, and Area Two District chairman, John Lovett, who congratulated the league on its continued growth and encouraged clubs to take advantage of the Marsh Insurance scheme.
The league's sponsors, Prudden Road Surfacing and Asphalt Express, both from Redditch were thanked for donations that will be used to develop the junior game.
Floodlit Tournament sponsor and league president Tony King of Alcester was also thanked.
The secretary further reported that the league had not only retained all 23 teams from last year but had received four new applications including a new club from Shipston-on-Stour.
The three new teams are FISSC B, Littleton C and Stratford E which will see the league expand to four divisions, fixtures for which will begin during the week commencing Sunday, April 20.
