An interesting addition has been made to the museum of Worcester King's School in the shape of the colours of the Venezuelan schooner "Mercedes," captured by HMS Tribune in a blockade of the Venezuelan coast on December 20, 1902. The actual capture was effected by Old Vigornian, Lieutenant G. Threlfell, to whom the colours were presented by Captain De Horsey of HMS Tribune, and by him to the headmaster of his old school.

1953: Worcester city councillors have decided that the main race at Pitchcroft on June 13 will be the "Worcester Coronation and Porcelain Handicap Plate." Dr A.B Milligan of Fernhill Heath has been appointed as Factory Doctor for the Worcester District which, besides the city, also includes parts of the rural districts of Droitwich, Martley, Pershore and Upton. He succeeds Dr. J.S. Ingles.
