STEVE Bradshaw, Wes Curtis and Paul Yorke have been team winners in both recent Winter Alliance Stableford Team competitions.

In the first competition their fourth partner was David Harding and their team returned a score of 89 points. In the second competition Barry Schofield, fresh from his tour of South Africa, joined them. The team was in superb form in this second competition and returned the incredible score of 96 points. They won the second competition by five clear points.

In the first Winter Alliance Stableford, Pete Sheward, Dave Bray, Bob Marriot and Gerald Bird were second, one point behind the winners with 88 points. The team of Carl Bayliss, Alan Watts, Jerry Hibbert and Nick Smith also scored 88 points but were placed third on the count back system.

In the second Winter Alliance Stableford Tim Caine, Dave Turner, Simon Long and Dave Harding gained second place with the very creditable score of 91 points. Nicky Smith, Andy McClelland, Euan McClelland and Tim Gordon were third with a score of 89 points.

In the Winter Alliance competition three teams each returned a score of 83 point and could only be separated on the count back system. The team of chairman Terry Smith, club captain Mel Stocker, vice captain Simon Tinkler and Gary Lynes were placed first. The team of senior golfers, comprising John Farley, Steve Waters, Al Hilson and Dave Mackie performed very creditably to obtain second place. In third place were Charles Davenport, Roger Blackwell, Andy Greene and Richard Mullington.

Joan Howarth, Eileen Hunt and Chris Urry won the Ladies ABC Greensome competition for teams of three with 60 points. Pauline Belsham, former lady captain Janet Clowrey and Teresa Jackson were second with 66 points. Jenny Sims, Barbara Evans and former lady captain Pat Fletcher won the Three Ball Alliance competition with 58 points. Pauline Belsham, Wendy Ormerod and Pat Rose were placed second one point behind.

In the 12-hole Greensome competition Vanessa Chesterton and Janet Strain won with 25 points, one better than Janet Clowrey and Betty Mitchell who were second.

The ever popular Mixed competitions continue to flourish at the club. In the recent Mixed Yellow Ball Alliance played in excellent weather conditions the team of Sandra and Barry Schofield playing with Kate Cross and Chris Hill ran out the winner with a score of 74 points. In second place with a score of 72 points were the team of Heather and Taff Morgan playing with Eileen Hunt and Nick Smith.
