MATHON, Cradley & Storridge Mixed A team moved to the top of their Winter League Division with a fine 3-1 victory away to Droitwich Tennis Club.
In fine conditions Janet Brown and Phil Toghill won a close opening match 7-5, 5-6, 6-1. Janet and Phil lost their second match 5-7, 5-7.
The other MCS pair of Carol Dandy and Duncan Hannaford started strongly, playing accurate ground strokes, to win their first match 6-2, 6-4. Duncan and Carol also won a one-sided final rubber 6-3, 6-0 to secure the match victory.
With one match to play MCS need to beat Bewdley to win the division and secure a second successive promotion.
