LANGLAND defeated second-placed Pinvin United in a ten-goal thriller reversing the first game of the season result.

Langland shook the visitors with an outstanding opening 30 minutes, dominating possession with first class passing and movement.

With the home defence of Steven Hodges, Mark White, Ian Hill and Jason Howes in fine form backed up by the outstanding keeping of Mark Newman, Pinvin had few opportunities in the first half.

An superb display by Langland's new signing Stephen Brookes combined with the running of young James Badham and Dale Humphries soon created chances and Dean Drinkwater grabbed three goals, twice assisted by Stuart Harvey.

Richard Jones also bagged a hat-trick with Dale Humphries adding the seventh.

With Sports easing off the visitors had their moments and their goalscorers were Richard Mooney (two) and Mark Annis.

On Sunday, Langland entertain top-of-the-table Albion at Victoria Park, players meet 9.30am.

On Saturday Langland Sports defeated West Malvern 3-1 with goals from Sam Dakin, Ian Hill and Wayne Cadmore in a good all round team performance.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Langland Sports visit Hanley Swan in the semi-final of the Phipps Cup. Players meet 1pm at Victoria Park, match kicks-off at 2.30pm.

The winners play in the cup final at Worcester City ground.
