SPRING is on its way again and with it the flocks of noisy light aircraft that regularly use the space over the Malverns as their play area.
Last Sunday should have been an idyllic spring day, warm, sunny, full of bird song and the sounds of the countryside - instead we were subjected to a nearly constant racket overhead, so that it makes you wonder whether there is such a thing as 'the peace of the countryside' anymore. At one point I counted five light aircraft over the hills at the same time.
It is possible to go away from roads and the sound of traffic - but where do we have to go to avoid this cacophony from above? And why is it that a few people have the power to ruin the peace for thousands of people just for their own selfish amusement?
