I AM sure many of your readers will have responded to Sir Michael Spicer's appeal in the Malvern Gazette (February 14) to join him in protest against the introduction of regional government and the end of local government for Worcestershire. This threat is to far more than the county of Worcester, however.
The structure for regional assemblies is already in place and under the name of "subsidiarity" was accepted by our political leaders as part of the Maastrict Treaty. The English regions are to be controlled and run from Brussels, and will not be answerable to the Westminster parliament.
It is increasingly necessary for every one of us to support this protest, not only to save our Worcestershire but to save our England. For those who have not yet recorded their protest, the number to ring is 0207 219 6250.
