KIDDERMINSTER Harriers' goalkeeper Fraser Digby is urging his Aggborough team-mates to clinch automatic promotion rather than go through an 'emotional rollercoaster' in the play-offs.

The 35-year-old has been involved in three successful play-off finals during his career and could soon be repeating the experience with Harriers.

The former Manchester United, Swindon Town, Huddersfield, Crystal Palace and QPR campaigner said: "It's an unbelievable feeling to win in the final but I imagine it's a terrible way to end the season if you don't.

"I would love to help Kidderminster get promotion but I'd much rather it be automatically than have to go through the emotional rollercoaster of a one-off match."

The experienced Digby, who moved to Aggborough on a non-contract basis last month, pulled off a couple of crucial saves on Tuesday night.

These enabled Harriers to rekindle their Nationwide League Division Three promotion hopes with a 1-0 home victory over Southend United.

For Digby his switch to Kidderminster is the latest twist in a career he thought had finally come to an end when he left QPR after Christmas.

He said: "I had reached a point in my life where I wasn't prepared to uproot my family again or travel hundreds of miles for the sake of saying I was still a professional footballer. It was sad that I felt my career had come to an end but you have to look forward."

A call 'out of the blue' from Kidderminster, however, resulted in him moving to Aggborough and taking over from regular number one goalkeeper Stuart Brock.

"It seemed like a good challenge," said Digby, who made his bow for Harriers in their 1-0 home win over Bournemouth on February 4.
