FORMER city pupils are being invited to dig out their old school ties for a grand reunion.

Chicago Rock Caf, Worcester, is holding the School Reunion night to help raise funds for Acorns Children's Hospice Trust.

As well as being a chance to meet old friends and catch up on all the news, there will also be fun and games and plenty of nostalgic music.

All the money raised will go to the Three Counties Appeal for a new hospice in Worcester for life-limited children.

Acorns has raised more than £2m of the £4m needed to get the Bath Road site up and running.

Promoter Greg Francis hopes people of all ages will take advantage of the night of entertainment.

"You never know what your best friend at school is doing now," he said.

"It's a chance to get together, swap stories and have a great time without having to organise it yourself.

"We promise there will be lots of fun on the night and it's all for a good cause."

There is no entry fee but a suggested donation of £2 is to be made on the door.

Former pupils of Nunnery Wood High School, Bishop Perowne CE High School, Elgar Technology College, Blessed Edward Oldcorne RC High School and Christopher Whitehead High School are being asked to come along.

But the event is open to anyone who wants to reminisce and have a good time.

It will take place at the New Street venue on Tuesday, March 25.

"You don't even have to come dressed in school uniform," said Mr Francis.

"But people tend to let their hair down if they are as it takes them back to days of rebellion and no responsibilities."

The event is being sponsored by drinks company VK and there will be plenty of drinking games to help partygoers let their hair down.

DJ Stuart Band will be the headmaster for the night and the bar staff will add to the evening's education with party games.

Chicago Rock Caf is also providing a buffet and a full menu will be available on the night.

Lichfield donates £4,000

THE founder patron of Acorns Children's Hospice has donated £4,000 to the charity from money he earned on photography shoots.

Lord Lichfield made the contribution, earned while working for Mandarin Oriental Hotels, at a special lunch for the charity last month.

A mystery guest at the earl's Staffordshire mansion also matched this sum, making a grand total of £8,000.

Both cheques were presented at the Shugborough Hall meal, attended by 24 guests, including Viscount and Viscountess Linley and new Acorns patron June Sayce, who donated the land for the new £4m hospice in Bath Road.

It was the fourth lunch for the cause to be hosted by Lord Lichfield.

Meanwhile, sixth formers from a Gloucester school have been strutting their stuff on the catwalk to raise £500 for the charity.

Parents, families and friends flocked to see the girls from Westonbirt in Tetbury modelling their own designs, as well as vintage wear, fashions from across the globe and a collection of stunning clothes loaned by society magazine, Tatler.

"Every single member of the Sixth Form worked tremendously hard to make the show a success," said headteacher Mary Phillips.

"There were all involved, whether as models, dressers, technical assistants or running front-of-house."
