MANAGER Dave Titterton was an animated spectator as he watched Stourport Swifts settle for a solitary Dr Martens Western Division point in a 1-1 draw with a dour Cirencester Town side.

Titterton, forced to watch from the stand due to a two-match touchline ban, was fuming as chance after chance went begging before the Gloucestershire visitors grabbed an undeserved equaliser late on.

On another day, Richard Ball could have helped himself to a hat-trick against a side mauled 4-0 when Swifts visited them back in December.

Ball chipped an effort just over the bar in the first half and was then denied three times by goalkeeper Mark Hervin after the break.

While some may argue that a striker linked with Nationwide Conference giants Yeovil Town should have had something to show for his efforts, at least Ball was in the right place at the right time.

He also had a crucial hand in Stourport's goal on 61 minutes, squaring for Kerry Giddings to tap into an empty net after Hervin had blocked his initial shot.

The move was created by Tim Nicholls' ball-winning skills in midfield and he sent John Shirley on a powerful run at the Cirencester defence.

With Hervin's heroics keeping Swifts at bay for the next 10 minutes, it was a cruel blow when the visitors struck a 73rd minute equaliser.

The home defence failed to clear a corner and former Cheltenham Town striker Gareth Hopkins shot home via the upright.

Boss Titterton threw his notes to the floor in frustration which just about summed up the feeling of those sitting with him in the stand.
