SMOKERS who want to kick their habit will be given extra encouragement by health workers this week.
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust is joining forces with the Smoking Advisory Service for national No Smoking Day tomorrow to help the region's nicotine addicts.
The county's hospitals will be putting up high-impact displays, providing information on quit smoking groups, and giving further encouragement to the many people who want to give up smoking.
A spokesman for the Trust said many patients suffered from smoking-related illnesses, while a high percentage of their staff smoked, as well as many visitors.
"Evidence around quitting smoking points to improved health, less sickness and a better chance of recovery from operations," she said.
For more information on giving up smoking, contact hospital clinics or GP surgeries.
