MUSICALLY minded youngsters are being urged to join a successful Rubery-based band.
The Rubery Youth Marching Band is looking to recruit young townsfolk to help continue the last 20 years of award winning success.
The group formed in 1983 and adopts a British military style of music and drill based on Her Majesty's services.
They offer young people, aged between eight and 25, the opportunity to receive top class musical tuition and take part in a range of prestigious events across Britain and Europe.
The Royal Albert Hall, the National Exhibition Centre and National Indoor Arena are just a selection of the venues the band have played at, although they also regularly appear at local carnivals and fairs.
In 2003 they were named Best Youth Marching Band in Britain, a crown they have held for two years.
They are a self-funding charity organisation, which provides all instruments, tuition and uniforms for members although there is an annual fee of £10 to cover insurance and weekly fee of £3.
They meet at Rubery Youth and Community Centre, in New Road, on Monday and Friday evenings between 7 and 9pm.
If you are interested in continuing the band's success story, call Pete or Sue Maybury on 0121 608 0934.
