Three lads named Fred Smith, Charles Osborne and Frank Hill pleaded guilty to playing football on Church Green to the annoyance of passengers on March 5.
Pc Bowcott stated the facts, the chairman characterising the game as a great nuisance when played in the streets and cautioned defendants as to their future behaviour.
They were let off on payment of the costs, 2s each.

On Tuesday afternoon Mrs T W Hill of Doe Bank House while driving her pony and carriage along the Ridgeway at New End, met with a singular accident.
The pony suddenly staggered to the roadside and dropped down dead without a struggle.
The occupants of the carriage, Mrs Hill and Mrs S P Smith, beyond the shock and a slight shaking escaped injury.
