FOR the first time in 80 years, the Bromsgrovian Club, an association for ex-pupils from Bromsgrove School, chose a former day boy, John Foster, from New Road, as its president.
BROMSGROVE'S long and determined battle to have the new general hospital to serve the town and Redditch built on a site convenient for both towns was lost. Health minister Roland Moyle, this week decided it should be at Woodrow, Redditch.
BROMSGROVE could become twinned with a similar sized town in Germany, France and Holland. However only one named Gronau, a German town on the Dutch border, had been mentioned as a possibility.
THE 350 pupils at Meadows First School in Bromsgrove had won a coveted Golden Award for their work in supporting the Save the Children Fund. The Roundabout Club, which was launched in the school just 18months ago, had collected 100,000 cigarette coupons, 50,000 used postage stamps, 200 kilos of clothes and £100 in cash.
RESIDENTS living near Cofton Country Club banded together to try to prevent its licence being renewed. They claimed the club had men and women strippers on stage together and that it attracted "undesirables".
