ALCESTER Town Council will not be asking residents to pay more on their council tax this year.

The town precept - the amount of money needed to pay for services provided directly by the town council - will remain at £113,000 which former mayor Councillor Wendy Weatherhead described as "extremely good housekeeping on behalf of the council".

Stratford Council has agreed a 58 per cent increase in its precept - making the total tax bill for a Band D property £1,085.69.
