Home Secretary David Blunkett now says: "It's bad but we'll fix it".
The same David Blunkett (October, 2001) said: "Britain's asylum system is in a mess from beginning to end but I will sort it out".
Home Office Ministers are now scurrying around trying to put smoke and mirrors between reality and Tony Blair's promises.
