THE wife of the town's mayor is hoping her idea to improve buses in Droitwich Spa is just the ticket.

Mayoress Kate Spencer has arranged talks with First bus company chiefs on Monday, April 14 to discuss public transport issues.

And a week later, she is ditching her car to spend a week on the buses to give her an improved insight.

Mrs Spencer will then report back to First bus and hopes they take on board her suggestions.

Before the first crunch meeting, she wants troubled travellers to post concerns or queries about services to the Droitwich Spa Advertiser.

We will pass them on to be shared with transport bosses.

The mum-of-one said: "Whilst out and about with my husband Terry, who is town mayor, I have spoken to scores of people who are disappointed with bus services in Droitwich.

"I decided I wanted to do something constructive and I hope my experiences on the buses, which I never use, will help me put forward suggestions when I meet with First."

The Worcester based bus company, which is one of more than 30 firms serving Worcestershire, controversially re-organised some services last year.

First marketing assistant David Maciejewski told the Advertiser: "We always welcome the opportunity to enter dialogue with customers and find out if there is anything we have missed."

Letters should be sent to the Droitwich Spa Advertiser, 12a High Street, Droitwich Spa WR9 8EW.
