A popular school dinner lady has decided to hang up her apron and retire after notching up 33 years of service at a Bromsgrove school.
Jackie Allen, of Lyndon Close, was honoured at a special leaving assembly at Millfields First School, in Swift Close, on Friday, March 7.
She said: "I was very sad to leave the school as it was such a happy place but I really enjoyed the time spent there and will now spend more time with my grandchildren."
The sprightly Bromsgrove resident was also reunited with many of her former colleagues at a small party.
Headteacher Sarah Power said: "She was superb. She was very popular with everybody and always happy and smiling.
"She has been here such a long time; some of today's parents remember her from when they were at school."
The head has applied to the Guinness Book of Records to see if Jackie is the longest serving dinner lady ever and an investigation is now under way.
