THE town's Tory MP has welcomed the start of work to resurface a busy stretch of motorway near Bromsgrove.
Julie Kirkbride has backed the scheme by the Highways Agency to resurface the M42 between junctions 2 and 3A with a low noise material after complaints from nearby residents.
After a long campaign, work was set to start on Monday.
Miss Kirkbride said: "I am delighted that the Highways Agency is starting work on the M42 to reduce the noise level from the traffic.
"Since becoming the MP for Bromsgrove I have campaigned for noise mitigation measures on the M42 and will continue to do so until the full stretch of the M42 covering Bromsgrove is completed.
"I nevertheless warmly welcome this start."
