BROMSGROVE Indoor Bowls Centre's team has reached the quarter-finals of the All-England Championships.
The Austin Road team, managed by Tom Farrar, have gone one better than last year's last 16 berth by defeating Somerset-based Dowyat 86-56 on Sunday.
The match, played on two rinks at home and away simultaneously, saw Colin Woolvin, Jim Gibbons, John Cracknell and Steve Parker win at home 23-11. Farrar, Arthur Grigg, Peter Davis and Barry Hay also won at home 20-18.
Simon Thursfield, Peter Stokes, Bernie Everton and John Reid lost away 14-16 but Jon Coles. John Attweep, Ian Crowe and Neil Brereton were victorious away 29-11.
The team qualified for the UK event by finishing runners-up in the Wessex League despite narrowly losing their unbeaten record to Mid-Gloucester 78-73.
Their next opponents are Carterton this Sunday with the winners going forward to the semi-finals at Bristol on Sunday, March 23.
Bowling is between 11am and 2pm and entry is free.
