MAJOR traffic disruption is expected in Tenbury Wells at the weekend when Severn Trent Water plans work in Market Street and Cross Street to replace a water mains.
The company warned that street closures through the town centre starting on Saturday morning could last until Monday.
The news follows a series of traffic flow disruptions in recent weeks in and round the town due to water main works.
In the latest phase of a £1 million project to improve water quality in Tenbury, there will be no access through town for traffic approaching from Stockton via the A4112 or from Bromyard along the 4214.
Diversions for heavy vehicles which will be most affected will be via Brimfield or Great Witley.
Residents received the news with despair. One local trader said: "Even though it is over the weekened the work will discourage shoppers on Saturday which is a very important day."
