MORE than 200 balloons heralded the start of a nine-day parish mission in Wyre Forest to celebrate the Catholic faith.
The event, organised by the churches of the Holy Family, Bewdley, and St Wulstan's, Stourport, was launched on Friday.
Pupils from St Wulstan's Primary School released the balloons at the Stourport church.
It was be the first in a series of events taking place until Sunday.
The theme - Two towns, one river, one mission - aims to reflect the two churches at Bewdley and Stourport linked by one river travelling together with one aim.
Organiser Patrick Kennedy said: "We have arranged a number of events to celebrate our faith and to ensure the whole community can get involved.
"There is something for everyone - contemporary and traditional services as well as leisure and relaxation."
He added: "We are serving bacon butties after our daily 6.30am early risers masses."
There will be a "Songs of Praise" in the meadow by the riverside in Stourport in the mission's final day on Sunday.
