A NEW officer at Redditch Council wants the support of the public as he attempts to enforce the clean-up of litter from the town.

Roger Thatcher became the environmental health enforcement officer at the council in January.

His new role will not be just to enforce the cleaning up of the streets but also to educate people.

He will liaise with residents about litter issues and work with other agencies in an order to alter people's behaviour.

Mr Thatcher said he wanted to hear about any form of littering taking place, whether it be on a small scale or on a large scale, such as fly tipping.

The environmental health department is hoping to organise an event for national Keep Britain Tidy week to make an impact on litter in the town.

Mr Thatcher can be contacted at the council on 64252 ext 3378.
