Alcester 2000 U-12 5, Littleton 3
LITTLETON'S unbeaten league run that had lasted for two years was smashed last weekend following a lacklustre display.
Littleton were never allowed to settle and gave the ball away regularly. Alcester took the lead when Sam Bastow's save fell to an unmarked forward who fired in the loose ball.
The second came when Littleton lost possession and a long ball out of defence saw the centre forward fire an unstoppable shot into the net from the edge of the area.
Littleton come more into the game after the break and a Dan Keen reduced the arrears after a goalmouth scramble.
This only acted as a spur for Alcester who struck twice in five minutes to make it 4-1.
Matt Smith and Ben Johns hit back for Littleton before a fifth goal killed of any hopes of preserving their proud record.
Kempsey Warriors 0,
Evesham Utd U-9 3
EVESHAM secured the Mercian League title with a solid performance against a much improved opposition.
Sam Ford had a fierce shot saved before Henry Woods and James Bearcroft combined to set up Louis Brown to give Evesham the interval lead.
Kempsey defended deeply as the Robins attacked in waves and rarely troubled keeper Leon Ballard.
United's second goals came from a well weighted Ford cross which Brown headed home. The scorer then completed his hat-trick with another well placed header from yet another pinpoint Ford cross.
Brown narrowly missed making it four when he hit the side netting and the Kempsey keeper did well to save an Andrew Powell free-kick in the final minutes.
Worcester Colts 0,
Evesham Utd U-9 3
FRESH from their victory over Kempsey, the Robins crossed Worcester to take on the Colts, pride of the Stourport League, in a friendly.
Leon Ballard was the busier of the two goalkeepers early on, but Evesham absorbed the pressure and took the lead when Sam Ford threaded the ball through for James Bearcroft to slot home.
Owen Jones and Craig Whiting were kept on their toes and Ballard was called into action as the Colts gained three corners in succession.
Evesham rode their luck on several occasions but, with the midfield of Louis Brown, Bearcroft and Ford starting to dominate, a second goal wasn't long in coming.
Henry Woods opened his account when he picked up a badly placed goal kick and finished well.
Sam Ford's run and pass then allowed Woods to complete his brace in what was probably the best move of the match.
Peopleton U-10 2,
Drakes Broughton 2
THE home side got off to a flying start with an opener in the first five minutes before poor defending then allowed Peopleton to double their interval advantage.
The second half saw Drakes get their game together and Ross Day's header and Tom Bird's cracking drive made sure of a share of the spoils.
Peopleton 1,
Evesham Utd Robins U-9 0
ROBINS fell to their second successive single goal defeat after dominating most of the match.
Peopleton took the lead in the opening few minutes when a long-range shot came back off a post. Keeper Tom Bennett saved the follow-up but couldn't keep out the third attempt.
The Robins then laid siege to the Peopleton goal but a fierce shot from Elliot Grady that thudded against the crossbar was the closest they came to an equaliser.
They continued to push forward after the break but their defence still had to cope with counter attacks. It was Peopleton who held for a victory that has dented United's hopes of an Ambassador League championship.
Evesham Utd U-13 2, Welland 1
UNITED moved to the top of the Mercian league after a hard-fought victory over the League Cup finalists.
Ben Bearcroft was again the match winner with both goals.
After five minutes the Welland keeper dropped a cross from Liam Scrivens and Bearcroft netted close-in.
The rest of the first half was very evenly balanced, with few chances on either side.
Welland snatched a deserved equaliser after United failed to clear from a corner.
Evesham continued to push for the winner and, after a couple of near misses, were finally rewarded when Bearcroft scored his second with a shot from the edge of the area.
Vale Wdrs 3, Evesham Utd 0
WANDERERS had to work hard and, despite having most of the play, found it hard to create any real chances.
A strike from Tom McLaughlin from just inside the area finally gave Vale the lead in the first half.
The second period saw Vale press harder for the victory and a super cross from Alfie Sutton was met with an equally fine header from Ryan Cantrill.
The result was put beyond doubt when Cantrill rose to score his second as he headed home powerfully from Tom Waghorn's corner.
Peopleton U-14 1, Malvern 2 (aet)
Malvern won 4-3 on penalties.
SUNDAY'S League Cup semi-final replay went the whole distance with penalties deciding the finalists.
Playing into a stiff breeze in the first half, Peopleton struggled to break out of their own half and Luke Arnold gave Malvern the lead.
Luke Frankum levelled following a free-kick but Zac Blood left the hosts trailing at half-time with Malvern's second.
Peopleton mounted constant attacks after the interval and matt Murphy's 25-yard dead-ball strike made it 2-2 before extra-time failed to find a winner.
The dreaded shoot-out did and it was Malvern who booked their final date.
Battledown 0, Peopleton U-15 1
PEOPLETON booked a place in their first ever final after Sunday's Mercian League Cup semi-final in Cheltenham.
An atrocious surface and strong wind made life tricky for both sides but the visitors, unbeaten since November, made the vital breakthrough midway through the first half.
Lee Miller was the scorer when he turned the home defence before slotting home.
The Peopleton back four were in doughty mood throughout and Matt Clements was only seriously tested once when turning over a goalbound shot.
Miller was denied a second and clinching goal by a post before Gareth Walford was also thwarted this time by the save of the match by the Battledown goalkeeper.
