WANDERERS had to work hard and, despite having most of the play, found it hard to create any real chances.
A strike from Tom McLaughlin from just inside the area finally gave Vale the lead in the first half.
The second period saw Vale press harder for the victory and a super cross from Alfie Sutton was met with an equally fine header from Ryan Cantrill.
The result was put beyond doubt when Cantrill rose to score his second as he headed home powerfully from Tom Waghorn's corner.
