TEACHERS at St Nicholas C.E. Middle School, Pinvin, decided the show must go on when a touring theatre company was forced to pull out of a visit on Tuesday.
The Onatti Theatre Group was due to perform The Child King, a play about Tuthankamun, as the climax to an Egyptian Day by Year 5, but had to cry off at short notice because one of the actors was ill.
"We were only told on Tuesday that the group could not come," said Sue Townley, school administrator. "Year 5 teachers got together and came up with their own play on the Egyptian theme which the children enjoyed immensely."
She said the whole day was very successful. Children turned up to school dressed as Egyptians, ate Egyptian food, and were involved in Egyptian art, including making clay statues.
