HONEYBOURNE, one of the rail stations on the Cotswold Line which first opened 150 years ago, is to be the venue for a special evening of rail nostalgia to mark the anniversary.
Rail enthusiast Mike Clemens, of Pershore, who has produced a series of successful rail videos, will be showing a selection of film footage from the latter days of steam, entitled Steam in the Cotswolds, at Honeybourne Village Hall next Tuesday at 7.15pm.
The evening, which includes a selection of films on the Hereford-Worcester-Oxford (Cotswold) Line as well as the Stratford-Honeybourne-Cheltenham route and on rail byways further afield, is one of a series of events marking the 150th anniversary of the former Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Line. There will also be a small photographic display and a sales stand.
"Those wishing to travel by rail to the event can catch the 5.55pm train from Worcester Foregate Street which calls at Pershore and Evesham arriving in Honeybourne at 6.23pm, where there will be a minibus link from the station to the hall," said Julian Palfrey, of CLPG.
"The return service from Honeybourne - with minibus link - leaves at 10.08pm." Tickets, available on the door, cost £3.50 for adults and £2 for children, to include refreshments.
