Pershore Tn 3, Rugby Tn 3
A STOPPAGE time equaliser denied Pershore victory over the Midland Combination Premier Division title chasers.
Goalkeeper David White who had earlier produced a series of top-class saves, dropped the ball four minutes into time added on and Phil Poole gratefully notched the equaliser.
Darren Tafft's clever lob gave Pershore the lead after only four minutes and the scorer should have made it 2-0 before Martin Thompson's powerful header levelled matters.
White produced a super tip over to thwart Wayne Hadley but the goalkeeper was helpless to prevent Thompson giving Rugby a 23rd minute lead with a fierce drive.
It took Town until 20 minutes into the second period to level when teenager Will Pedley's pace and skills saw him bang in the goal of the game.
White's brilliance kept the sides level until Tafft's volley 13 minutes from time made it four goals in three games and a 3-2 lead for the hosts.
However, after producing a couple more super saves, White's blunder cost Pershore victory on an afternoon when they more than matched their lofty visitors.
Tafft was again on target on Tuesday night when Massey Ferguson were defeated 3-2.
Tafft's two goals gave Pershore a 2-0 lead after 22 minutes but the visitors hit back with two swift strikes after the break to make it 2-2 after 53 minutes.
However, Dean Wise banged in the winner from 30 yards to ensure the hosts didn't suffer further league disappointment.
