Stourbridge Lions 44

Pershore II 7pts

AFTER a 38-20 trouble free win over Tew-kesbury the previous week, Pershore's second string came down to earth with a bump when they took on well drilled and experienced opponents.

With the gale to their backs in the first half, Stourbridge played the elements well with some excellent positional kicking deep in to Per-shore territory from which they were able to administer considerable pressure.

For the first 20 minutes Stourbridge scored alm-ost at will to lead 25-0.

Pershore stuck at the task well and found success in attack during the latter stages of the first half when Garry Sher-idan showed agility and grit to drive over.

Dave Snell converted. Stourbridge managed to relieve any pressure exerted by Pershore and turn defence into attack with the use of the wind.

Following such a phase of play, they were awarded a five-metre scrum which they drove over and scored yet again to lead 32-7 at half-time.

In the second half Pershore were encamped in the opposition half but had no variation of play and Stourbridge soaked up enormous amount of pressure.

They were always the more inventive of the two sides and added two more tries on the counter to secure a 44-7 victory.

Pershore, who fielded contained no fewer that seven players under 19, must learn from this game and use the experience in a positive way.
