MEMBERS of Evesham Archery Club were kept busy last month with a weekly open competition.
Eight members shot at Gloucestershire's County Championships. The round shot was a Portsmouth, a ten-zone 60cm face shot at 20 yards.
Lisa Illingworth and Peter Williams shot the overall highest scores of 561 and 580 to take the two recurve trophies.
Malcolm Porter led for most of the 60-arrow shoot but missed out on top spot by just two points with 578.
The Harry Mitchell Centre at Smethwick was the venue for Warwickshire's County and West Midlands Junior Indoor Champio-nships. The round shot was the Fita 18, 60 arrows shot at a 40cm with ten zone scoring from a distance of 18 metres.
Illingworth was again top Evesham lady taking second place medal in the Open category. Ian Trout shot well to take the limited compound Open championship.
Wyre Forest Archers' annual Portsmouth shot at Stourport Leisure Centre always has full entries on the 20 targets for both morning and afternoon sessions.
Seven Evesham archers shot including Porter and Williams who took second and third places in the gents' recurve with the same score of 573.
Illingworth continued her fine form by taking second place in the ladies event with Trout again taking the limited compound trophy.
There are few combined Fitas on the indoor calendar, five-dozen arrows shot from 25 metres at a ten-zone 60 cm face and the same from 18 metres at a 40 cm face.
Chorley Archers' Combined Fita saw a full entry with some top national exponents in action but it was a trio of Evesham archers that produced some spectacular results.
Barbara Stanway shot well to take second place with a combined score of 1030 with Linda Haines close behind in third.
