REDDITCH boxer Adam Mytton has his sights on a place in the National Schools Championships final.
But he has a race against time to get fit after injuring his hand in the previous round.
The talented 14-year-old is down to take on Darlington's Neil Hepper in the Year 10 51kilos section of the semis at Haden Hill Leisure Centre on Saturday.
The Webheath wonder has beaten opponents from Birmingham Irish and Northampton to extend an impressive record of ten wins from a dozen bouts since converting from semi contact kickboxing last season.
Mytton, a pupil at St Augustines RC School, Redditch, hopes to be in action at the weekend with the afternoon programme starting at 2pm.
But he will face a late decision on his fitness which will be taken before the day.
The lack of a boxing club in Redditch also prompted Jacquie Masters to turn to Droitwich when she decided to make the switch from kickboxing.
The 32-year-old won Boxer of the Evening at her first bout in Ross on Wye on Friday when she outfought Lye's Claire McGivenney.
The Winyates newcomer boxes in the 57 kilos section.
