FOR the first time in its 25 year history, MCS Tennis Club has both ladies and men's teams in the Premier sections of the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Summer Leagues.
The ladies A team finished an excellent season in 2002 by gaining promotion to Division Three and the men's A consolidated their position in Division Three, gained in 2001.
With other teams including mixed league teams, there are opportunities for new members to play at all levels. In addition there is a strong club tradition of social tennis for players of all standards plus a new junior programme due later in the year.
Originally formed by enthusiasts from the villages of Mathon, Cradley and Storridge, the club now has a membership from the Malvern, Colwall and Ledbury area. The club is indebted to Nigel Kennedy for earlier fundraising and for being its most distinguished member.
New members are most welcome to come to two open mornings on Sundays, April 6 and 13 from 9.30am onwards. Directions to the club will be signposted from West Malvern Road via Harcourt Road.
Alternatively anyone interested should call Pat Pugh on (01531) 640682 or Peter Flagg on (01684) 567058.
