TWO Colwall teams have won through to the semi-finals of the Malvern Table Tennis League's handicap competition.
Crackpots E gained a convincing victory over Juniors C with a major contribution from Colin Dolding, who won all his games with ease. Colin was well supported by James Palmer and Nick Gilbert.
Crackpots C had a hard fought 22 point win over Division Three rivals CSSC Nomads. The outstanding player of the evening was Richard Cullis, who took points off all of his opponents. He met the sternest resistance from Kevin Howard but just came out on top in a 9-11, 11-4, 11-7, 7-11 scoreline.
The third team into the semi-finals are the newcomers Bromyard Logics, who emerged as winners in the contest between the two teams at the top of Division Three.
Playing off scratch, the teams battled gamely throughout the evening. At the end of the ninth set the Juniors were four points ahead but it was not a big enough margin to prevent John Hunt from leading the Logics to victory. For the Juniors Anthony Wiseman played particularly well and must have been disappointed to finish on the losing side.
RESULTS: Crackpots C (60) 412, CSSC Nomads 390; Crackpots E 439, Malvern Juniors C (195) 385; Bromyard Logics 364, Malvern Juniors B 340.
